Giving Back

At ACT we believe it is our social responsibility to help those who are less fortunate. We take this charge personally and actively look for ways to make the community around us better.

One of our long term relationships is with the Chattanooga Community Kitchen. We help with their work training program by providing opportunities for those who want to get off the street work experience in the Kitchen's recycling program and Kent Davis also serves on the Board for the Kitchen. More than just a place to find a meal, the Chattanooga Community Kitchen provides training, support, medical care, access to services, housing, and clothing to those who desire to change their situation. We also support the Siskin Children's Institute. This local organization has made life for parents of children with disabilities just a little easier by providing accessible, affordable education opportunities that are geared to each child's disability. Not only do they support the emotional and physical growth of the child, but support the entire family as they face the challenges and blessings of children with special needs. And they don't stop there. They are leaders in pioneering research to find ways to prevent, treat and cure childhood disease and birth defects. Giving Back to Our Planet

We feel a duty to minimize our impact on the planet and make conscious efforts to be good steward of the earth. Below are a few of our initiatives:

  • We deliver our supplies to clients in recyclable/ reusable paper bags that are biodegradable when finally disposed of.
  • Our Technicians drive fuel efficient, sub compact cars instead of large vans.
  • We recycle all cardboard that is used in shipping of equipment with the Community Kitchen.
  • We recycle/reuse most of the metal and wooden pallets on which equipment arrives.
  • When we relocated in 2007, we re-purposed an old auto repair shop instead of building new.
  • We double insulated exterior walls to minimize electrical consumption.
  • We used energy efficient double paned windows in the remodel.
  • We re-roofed with an energy saving white membrane roof that minimizes solar gain.
  • We provide complimentary cartridge recycling stations through Toshiba for used toner cartridges to avoid the landfill.

Giving Back to Our People

We realize that a company is only as good as its employees. We invest heavily in the continuing education of our people and encourage them to advance in life.

Keeping up with technology today is a daunting task, but we are relentless in our pursuit of knowledge about current and emerging business technologies. We require continual training of our sales and service staffs to keep them on the cutting edge, and constantly work to improve their communication and listening skills.

Our goal is to have the best educated, most efficient employees in the business technology arena.
